Blackburn & Styles

Gooners

Regardless of what they did, we let Blackburn off the hook. I won't
chastise Lehmann as players will have their off days, even if it is
two games in a row. Having been a goalkeeper myself, their mistakes
are more often than not highlighted on the score board. I even felt
pity for him although I was terribly incensed with the error. But
after taking a couple of deep breaths, I realised he wasn't the only
one making mistakes. I am sure Wenger would have spoken to him
quietly and I am sure we will see a different goalkeeper against Man
City.

Overall, we didn't cave in on the tackles. The penalty meted out by
FA on Blackburn for last season shows Wenger has a point in stating
Mark Hughes's men were over the top in their challenges. I
understand the need to tug a jersey and cynical trips, but an
overzealous challenge should always be outlawed. That is where post
match video should be used consistently and cards given
accordingly. I wouldn't defend another Arsenal player who commits
an x-rated foul and would applause any punishment given. But I
would also want a consistent level of punishment. The League Cup
final last season being an example of disproportionate punishment.

As for referee Styles, it is ridiculous for the FA to ban him. They
have now set a precedent but the worrying thing is where do you draw
the line? Should officials be banned for missing clear goals? What
about career threatening tackles that the referees missed? Isn't
this as bad as the penalty Styles gave? This is bordering on
farcical. I can understand why Styles gave a penalty. From his
angle, Finnan did looked to have body checked Malouda. Of course,
we have the luxury of replays and countless different camera
positions. Thing is, why shouldn't the referee be given this
support? I would rather stop the match for 5 minutes for the
officials to make sure the correct decision is made than bitch all
over after the match.

The FA has got their priorities all wrong. The person that should
have been charged is Malouda. Just so I don't come across as
biased, I didn't see the van persie challenge on Warnock. But if it
is as bad as the media made it out to be, he should have been
punished accordingly. The last thing we need are players taking law
into their own hands and jeopardising the interest of the team.

Dear Suku

Yeah...i do agree with you....In Dec we can make a strong case for the dark horses for UEFA cups and relegation Candidate.

My hunch tells me.....Birmingham and Derby would be relegated along either Bolton, Fulham and Boro (the last two teams plays the most crap football and does not deserve to be in the premiership).

Our reserve boys are good enough to have a decent run in the Carling cup and possibly FA cup.

As teams Like BB, everton or Bolton are man handling in our games we have to return to the old notorious ways of winning games on a ugly way popularised by Keown, Adams, winterburn and dixon. .

Guys,
Remember there are still 36 Games to go in Premiership
Plus FA Cup, CL & Carling

Lehman is still a world class keeper just 2 mistakes does not blow his status
remember he saved us, a few times in the CL game in Prague last week

It early season blues he will come through and be good for us.

I think Wenger has still not come up with a way to go up against
Physcial teams, maybe we should play keep ball and play monkey
or get in a hatchet guy similar to Keown to go out and return hack
the opponents.

But despite the defeat it was good to see Flamini, Fabregas responding
to tackles by the BB players with equal hard tackles it shows that we
cannot be pushed around the park

Kar heng, despite anything from what I have seen in the last 3 week games in EPL
( I watched nearly all matches ) No one is better than Fabregas, most impressive
Forward in the EPL so Far John Utaka from Pompey he is awesome.
Best Diver - F Malouda from Chelsea

Firstly its too early to make any predictions
Man City, Newcastle GOOD ???
I will reserve my comments until Dec.

I expect both Man City, Newcastle to finish above mid table
I still think that West Ham will be a strong team this year,

Derby, Birmingham & Sunderland, Everton,Wigan
will be the prospects for relegation.

Spurs Scum should be around mid table or worse

I still think that this time around the top fours will
still be us, Manure, chelsea and Liverpool

But This time I expect the order to be
Arsenal/Liverpool then Manure/Chelsea

I would love to see Manure and Chelsea be knocked out
in Champions league qualifying in 2008/2009 season

Just my 2 cents worth
