Finally, someone who understands that we are supporting a great team, but one which has been very much excelling or even over-achieving, considering the spending and resources available, simply because of one man Arsene Wenger.

He had great success at Monaco, winning the French league after one year, then going to Japan to manage Grampus 8 winning more trophies there. He has won manager of the year in France and Japan.

Yes, we do criticise him at times, but I hate to imagine what our past 9 years would've been like if Arsene Wenger was not at Arsenal. Can you imagine an EPL with only Manure as the dominant force for all of the past 10 years? How sick to the stomach we would all have been with the extra arrogant attitudes of the glory-hunting Manure fans?

Not to mention the lack of joy in our lives with an average ARSENAL team, as opposed to the beautiful and successful team we've been blessed to watch and celebrate the past 9 years.

So, even in our criticism, let's always be grateful for what he's helped our beloved ARSENAL achieve these past 9 years and pray that he will remain, guiding us to even greater success for another 9 at least!

Thanks. Take care and God bless.

This is, by far, the best response that I have read about the team.
Positive thinking, and looking at the bright side.
I remember someone saying that we need a "Big, strong, centre back" for
our defense to be better. Cygan aside, the current defense line managed
the unbeaten record. Something even the millions of Abromovich cant do.
Not yet anyway.
The team is in an excellent condition, but I agree additional
reinforcement won't hurt at all. And we would need an extra striker
after bergie ends his contract this season.

Tactically, i think the move for Lauren to go in has to be so that Cygan
does not open up the left wing for Thun to exploit. I realised that Lauren
made the gap disappear after he was there..He was almost excellent in left
back, tho uncomfortable with the method of tackling because playing for so
long on the right means tackling on the left flank requires the player to do
almost opposite of everything he is used to..which is why, I THINk, he got
the yellow so quickly..

Maybe Wenger also wanted to try out and see how he plays on the left and
condition him to fill the void.
Eboue is good on the right, tho susceptible to bad passing, he provides
excellent overlapping to support the attack.

We need to make sure our left is filled by Lauren on Saturday. Simply
because of the man who almost single handedly destroyed Man Utd. Morten
Gamst Pedersen.

Come on guys! Give me a break man!

Where were the comments at the early part of this season???
Most were negative or silent. After this far and looking good, you say that this is our year!

Guys, we need to be consistent in our support. Dont come out only when the sun shines!

Take Cygan for instance. You know the guy is a stop gap measure at left back, so why criticise him. Im sure the manager need someone with experience in that position. You know of someone better? (btw, Hoyte is on loan)

I remember someone telling me after our 3rd loss that Arsenal might be relegated! Hah, i reply was "You gotta be crazy".

While we praise AW, pls dont forget what a great team we were before !

Hey, Win, Draw or what, i stand by ARSENAL!

Hello everyone,

I am an ardent fan, living in Australia. I have been following the threads but have not contributed - till now.

I must say that you guys are definitely amongst the truest and most involved Arsenal fans I have seen around. I have yet to find a group in this part of the world with such loyal support (except for the Brits for migrate here).

I will put in my dua sen. Arsene Wenger is a true mastermind. A brilliant manager/ coach. Definitely in the same league as what the Australians call the 'magician' or 'miracle man' Guus Hiddink. Yes, we are still recovering from the hangover after beating Uruguay to qualify for the World Cup! With AW, I can see Arsenal developing into a team that would be more potent than the one that achieved the 49-match unbeaten run.

We must have faith in AW. He knows what he is doing. We must appreciate the pressure he is under and I agree that the team has certainly over-achieved in view of the limited financial resources we face. As a sports coach in Australia myself, I wish I have the brilliance of these both men.

Arsenal will finish at Highbury on a high. They will move into Ashburton Grove with a bang. My gut feel tells me so.

Cheers gang..

Steven

Gooners forever.. from Down Under

ps. I plan to visit Malaysia in late Jan/ early Feb. Any chance the club house will be open. Or will you guys be gathering at that Hotel Midah (?)

Steven,

Hotel Midah is our 'clubhouse'. We watch most premiership games scheduled
before 12 am there.

Rest assured that we will be there for the remaining games for the season.

This year? Well, we're not too far behind Chelsea now aren't we? Slowly but
surely...I feel that Arsenal will face a very resilient Blackburn this
weekend but hopefully with Lauren and Eboue back, we will be able to defend
better than we did against a battling ban-Wigan..;P

We did shoot that wagon down...hopefully this time, we'll shoot em Rovers
too ey!

I feel that we still lack someone solid in the middle. Gilberto doesn't look
himself lately..We need a makelele.

>Hello everyone,
>
> I am an ardent fan, living in Australia. I have been following the
>threads but have not contributed - till now.
>
> I must say that you guys are definitely amongst the truest and most
>involved Arsenal fans I have seen around. I have yet to find a group in
>this part of the world with such loyal support (except for the Brits for
>migrate here).
>
> I will put in my dua sen. Arsene Wenger is a true mastermind. A
>brilliant manager/ coach. Definitely in the same league as what the
>Australians call the 'magician' or 'miracle man' Guus Hiddink. Yes, we are
>still recovering from the hangover after beating Uruguay to qualify for the
>World Cup! With AW, I can see Arsenal developing into a team that would be
>more potent than the one that achieved the 49-match unbeaten run.
>
> We must have faith in AW. He knows what he is doing. We must appreciate
>the pressure he is under and I agree that the team has certainly
>over-achieved in view of the limited financial resources we face. As a
>sports coach in Australia myself, I wish I have the brilliance of these
>both men.
>
> Arsenal will finish at Highbury on a high. They will move into Ashburton
>Grove with a bang. My gut feel tells me so.
>
> Cheers gang..
>
> Steven
>
> Gooners forever.. from Down Under
>
> ps. I plan to visit Malaysia in late Jan/ early Feb. Any chance the club
>house will be open. Or will you guys be gathering at that Hotel Midah (?)

> Finally, someone who understands that we are supporting a great team,

>considering the spending and resources available, simply because of one man
>Arsene Wenger.
>
> He had great success at Monaco, winning the French league after one
>year, then going to Japan to manage Grampus 8 winning more trophies there.
>He has won manager of the year in France and Japan.
>
> Yes, we do criticise him at times, but I hate to imagine what our past 9
>years would've been like if Arsene Wenger was not at Arsenal. Can you
>imagine an EPL with only Manure as the dominant force for all of the past
>10 years? How sick to the stomach we would all have been with the extra
>arrogant attitudes of the glory-hunting Manure fans?
>
> Not to mention the lack of joy in our lives with an average ARSENAL
>team, as opposed to the beautiful and successful team we've been blessed to
>watch and celebrate the past 9 years.
>
> So, even in our criticism, let's always be grateful for what he's helped
>our beloved ARSENAL achieve these past 9 years and pray that he will
>remain, guiding us to even greater success for another 9 at least!
>
> Thanks. Take care and God bless.

> > fellow gooners, this is not a year of transition for us, its the
>deep breath before the plunge, the partnership of Reyes, Hleb and
>Cesc will form a devastating wave of fear all over the world(in
>time).Reyes has the speed and good on dead ball situations but
>unfortunatly not very good with his body movements, especially not
>knowing how to use his shoulder to shield himself from approaching
>opponents, this is great disadvantage as premiership opponents are
>well accustomed to body contacts. - Cesc's matuarity and vision is
>frighteningly good, bear in mind he is only 18, Viera was physically
>skillful but mentally impatient at this time of his age. - Hleb's
>versatility and unselfishness has shown what an asset he is to
>Arsenal, he easily gels in with the rest.) However this central
>revolution will need a consistent executor (besides Henry of
>course!) - Torres, Dirk or Carew - being the best option for now.-
>The whole world knows arsenal has one of the best talent scouting
>team in the world, other teams wait for us to make a move for a
>player and they follow up with a higher bid, (Robinho, Baptista,
>Sergio Ramos, Shaun Wright and Essien). This has been the reason for
>us to apply Plan B in our 05/06 season (not bad considering our
>resources), gosh! where would we be if not for Monsieur Wenger.
> > Dear Gooners, i have just posted my views, please feel free to
>comment on it.

yeah..apparently,this statement is true...arsenal already has enough depth that will last the club for even the next ten yrs....just look at the likes of van persie(in an excellent form since the match against spurs), fabregas(might become one of the best midfielder in the world one day, perhaps better than paddy), flamini(a cool player with a very bright future), lupoli(arsenal reserves version of thierry henry), clichy(superb young left back perhaps might be better than cole) and the list goes on......well,things might be going our way in the future......
But,currently...i'm hoping for arsenal to do well in the champions league...presently....they're doing well n i hope this will continue. As for in the epl, leaders, chelsea has shown their vulnerability lately. It would be terrific if arsenal can beat them at home on the 19th of december.
Next...the transfer window, well, wenger is too passive in the transfer window....he needs to get active...willing to buy established players n spend a bit more. we need a striker partner for henry....other than the likes of bergkamp n persie. reyes is more suitable as a left winger....maybe, wenger can look forward to bring the likes of torres, carew, dirk, tuncay, obafemi martins, dani, frei, iaquinta or maybe helder postiga.
ok,that's all.....gunners are great!

I think Wenger has made a decision to stick with the young
guns...like you say, RVP is currently quite hot, and may improve
further as the season goes on. But that is unlikely to happen if you
bring in someone like Torres, who would expect to be in the starting
line-up for every match.

With the World Cup looming, from countries that have qualified, there could be players who may be good enough but not getting enough chances to show their stuff because of other good strikers or defenders around, or just because not favoured by their current coach/manager.

Chelsea certainly have a few, but of course they are not going to loan any of them to ARSENAL.

So, if Wenger does want to try out someone, possibly even on loan till the end of the season, I'm sure he will do it.

However, he always will look at the value-for-money as well as suitability issues rather than just big names. That's a fact, and he has said something to that effect.

Of course, the player too will join based on first team opportunity. So, if Wenger doesn't sign anyone, it's more likely the right player and conditions did not happen.

But no worries, the reserve team has some good talent. Hopefully he will field more of the youngsters against Ajax in the last champions league game. No effect on the standing or seeding. Doubt Ajax will fly over the full first team too...since they've qualified and can't change the standing too.

Thanks. Take care and God bless.
Regards,
Anand
